By the time Collins had finished the script, Ross decided to go through the script with Collins and screenwriter. This may be set in a fictional future, but it is intended to be a product of its time. The story is tense and terrific and the fight scenes are perfectly drawn in your mind. A truly fantastic and original idea that has been brilliantly executed. Under the leadership of President Alma Coin and the advice of her trusted friends, Katniss spreads her wings as she fights to save Peeta, along with other victors and a nation moved by her courage. After I finished reading Mockingjay I had the same feeling as I had when I finished reading The Lord of the Flies so many years ago. They basically made up the entire story, only using Mars as the setting and some of the characters names, I accept that the book is usually always better than the movie, but in this case they ruined such a great story.
I also loved what is so far a trilogy by kristin Cashore. The way I read the story, by the end of the first Hunger Games, she returns the feeling. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. The 2 books that are out Truancy and Origins are completely fantastic. She will make new friends, enemies, inspire and give hope to many people in Panem thanks to her performance in the games. We see the fruits of those labors fuel the flames of the first half of as the embers slowly curl up and burn out by the end. For me, very, very few of them have the narrative power of The Hunger Games. When you read the following books you will see that Katniss, all unaware of the effect she is having , inspires others to stand up and endure and strive to be the best that they can be. Like Gale, he could have gone anywhere when it was all over, yet he went where Katniss was. Of course it's no surprise the book has much more detail and is a very interesting read.
