I told him that I would be good and that I wouldn't steal food anymore. The way it was done was very sickening to the point where I feel like vomiting and crying. It chronicles the abuse this little boy named David went through as a child. He has dedicated his life to helping others help themselves. This nurse has been dealing with David for some time now.
A lot of thanks goes to my teacher, for lending me the books - it's one of my most favorites! I wanted so badly to pluck David out of the story and hide him away from this vicious woman who to me was never truly a mother, but a monster who took her anger out on a weak small child. What was the point of this book? At the age of 18 Dave aged out of the and joined the U. Dave Pelzer is adapting the screenplay alongside Goldblum and Hall. But I'm going to say what I can. In one part David's mom is really nice to him and his brothers and in a few years she is treating his brothers the same but is beating him constantly. Before he left that day, I threw my arms around his waist.

It's that end, despite being a beginning, that will bring tears to your eyes and a much needed smile to your face. I use these books in my high school classroom I am a teacher and we have located several articles and interviews in addition to the books which help you better understand the Pelzers' unique and heart-wrenching accounts. What kind of mother would want to hurt their own little child? He was rescued before he was killed. Those are explained in this book. Apparently, there is some doubt on whether the story is actually true, or whether the author merely made the whole thing up. But that's something people involved in child abuse cases ask themselves every day. At the age of 12, Dave was removed from an abusive home and placed in a series of foster homes.
Just do the research, read the articles and watch the videos. Pelzer also bought his own book in bulk so the sales numbers would put it on the bestseller list -- he just doesn't have a whole lot of credibility. Sometimes, several minutes would pass without us talking.

Anyway, this isn't about me so instead I'll say that no matter what, I'm glad I read it. After every single part of the reading, I was convinced it couldn't get worse, that she couldn't possibly do anything worse to that little boy. This author has overcome that obstacle and succeeded in life by such masculine norms as joining the Air Force and receiving awards for his volunteerism. What is most appalling about this book lays behind the truth of the story. By the age of 4 these feelings were replaced with fear, starvation and lowliness. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to know a real life experience of someone who dealt with child abuse in full detail.
But for a child it's horrific. I even despised the sun, for I knew I would never be able to play in its warm presence. He lives with his crazy, obnoxious, abusive mother who would go out of her way to torture David. Being able to push out a baby does not make you a mother. In 1994, he became one of the only United State's citizens to be awarded as the Outstanding Young Persons of the World, for his efforts in teaching about child abuse and it's prevention.

The book is written from the perspective of a child. He bought numerous copies of his own book to inflate sales records so that the book would have a better chance at getting on bestseller lists. Hansen; and a police officer are waiting for him. Starvation is number one at the forefront of the horror show this book is. Mother was completely thorough in making sure I was unable to steal any food. You are a bastard child! And every single time I was wrong.
